Land Trasportation Office (LTO) recently added another requirement for Drivers License Application by April 2020. The office requires a valid Driving Certification from Accredited Driving Schools in the Philippines. Drivers License Application without a certification will not be accepted. LTO also would not accept those certification issued from unaccredited Driving Schools. Therefore applicant must undergo again another driving lessons from an accredited Driving Schools.
Driving Certification purposes
The goal of having a certification for drivers license application is for people to become more efficient and responsible drivers. Many drivers are more lately involved in Traffic Accidents. Most of them are committing the common vehicular accidents in the road. Too many vehicles on the streets that cause heavy traffic in addition to untrained drivers. Due to drivers recklessness traffic accidents has been one of the most prevalent crimes.
The office want to implement its Memorandum Circular no. 2019-2176 which is Rules and regulation on accreditation, supervision and control of driving institution, and on standardization of Driver Education. They are waiting for the Higher Headquarters instructions to implement this Memorandum. There are three (3) main goals which are to:
- Establish an accreditation system that ensures compliance of driving institutions;
- Ensure uniformity of the driver education course components;
- Raise the standard of instruction and to develop safety consciousness and positive driving attitudes.
With these, it can help to minimize the traffic accidents which lead injuries, damage to property or even fatalities.
Government Accredited Driving Institution
There are some accredited Driving Schools for Drivers License Application. One of them is Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) with its Accredited Training Centers. TESDA is one of the premier Government Agency here in the Philippines which offers free training courses.
To apply for TESDA Driving Course you must secure this following documents:
- PSA Birth Certificate
- College or High School Diploma
- Transcript of Records (TOR) or Form 137 (in some high school)
- Good Moral Character Certification
- Recently taken 2 x 2 and 1 x 1 ID Picture(6 months)
For TESDA Accredited Driving Assessment Centers, you can go to TESDA website and check for nearest in your area. After passing the assessment you will be given the the National Certificate (NC). Before applying drivers license in the Philippines be secure a driving certification.
